Drama Review: Flower Boy Next Door Episode 11 & 12

Flower Boy Next Door

Episode 11 & 12

What can I say?  Episode 11 contained majority of the drama and realization of hidden feelings.  Episode 12 on the other hand has the fluffy stuff!  Both episodes were pretty short as usual but since the show maintained its feel good aura, I am pretty satisfied.

In the beginning of episode 11, Dok Mi declared an ending to her relationship [whatever kind that was] with Enrique and everybody else including Jin Rak.  At first Enrique thought that Dok Mi pretty much chose the other over him but at the end he realized it was just her way of saying goodbye to Jin Rak.  This was a total disappointment.  Anyways, before that part, while in the museum she learned about Enrique's accident and she wasn't able to mask her real concerns about the first.  This was very apparent that Jin Rak knew he had to take her to the hospital where Enrique was.  It was a good thing that he wasn't hurt so badly and Dok Mi felt relieved.  Later, they both went back to her apartment.  She cooked something for him while he watches t.v.  Enrique noticed she already packed her stuff.  That's how he knew that the supposed date with Jin Rak was actually her last goodbye.  He wasn't able to resist getting upset.  In the end, he told her he will be gone-- he won't bug her anymore.  He turned around ready to leave when she stopped him and later confessed that she has been liking him.

That scene was pretty dramatic specially that it ended with a kiss.  It wasn't the Jang Geun Suk kind of kiss which I must admit I was kind of hoping to see because Enrique has that kind of cuteness.  I wish Park Shin Hye could have done a better job-- all she needed was to open her mouth a bit!  Oh that would have been hot.  Looking at the details of what exactly happen in that few seconds of their lips together, Enrique opened his but hers was shut.  But, you know, it's alright.  That drama was still there.  I was toatlly touched by the scene-- the wasy she said her lines;  the way he gazed at her while she's confessing;  When he came closer to her and said, once again, he can hear her without her saying naything.  The sincerity was undeniable.  Unless I watch Asian dramas, I really won't be able to see innocence and love in one sentence, if you know what I mean.  In a lot of western movies, you'll see characters who will be totally nasty to each other then suddenly the woman will be on top of the man and all I can do is ask, "what the heck happened?!" That scene made me want to pull time as fast as I could until it's time to watch the next episode.

In The meantime, there's something brewing between Dong Hoon and his editor.  The editor just learned from Jin Rak that if she lowers her voice a man would come closer to her face in order to hear what she has to say.  She did try it and, indeed it worked.  So later, she shooed Jin Rak so she can have a one-on-one with Dong Hoon.  The latter didn't complained since he owes her big time!  Anyways, I am starting to feel that Dong Hoon has something for this hard working gal.  Why wouldn't he?  He's a hard worker himself.  I was in awe after hearing his story in Episode 12.  This romance that seems to be slowly developing, continued in episode 12.  Out of the blue, the editor just showed up in the club where he gets clients for his designated driver job.  She was wearing this outrageous looking clothing with matching dark circles for she hasn't have enough sleep.  And her excuse, for coming over?  She's having a nightmare.  And because he promised her to call him every time she has a nightmare, no matter what time of the day or night, so there she was.  Dong Hoon, on the other hand, was only expecting a call.  But he was a total gentleman to her.  HE even defended her when some girls called her cheap looking thing.  Their partnership is really cute.  This could be a good plot for a drama by itself actually.

Meanwhile, in Episode 12, the love confession continued.  Almost the whole last scene in episode 11 was repeated which took quiet a chunk of episode 12.  But I don't care.  I thought it was a good idea since that scene was epic.  I wasn't expecting that it was Dok Mi who would confess first.  I'm glad she did.  It's about time, she'd be more open.  Also, finally the long over due face-to-face confrontation with Do Hwi happened.  Both Jin Rak and Enrique were there to witness this golden day that Dok Mi spoke up for herself-- opened her feelings and thoughts about what happened; how she suffered that not even her best Friend for the longest time understood.

This episode is a turning point in Dok Mi's life.  She decided to open her door and go out there-- see the world.  Enrique has been a really good support for he trust that she can do it.  Unlike Jin Rak who has always been over-protective, Enrique believes that she can do it. And if it gets tough, he's there to help her.

However, the rest of the drama would be boring if all is well from this point onwards.  When she was out with the guys right after Enrique's seminar to gamers and their parents, she watched the game organized by Enrique's team for the attendees.  The fan that was stalking Enrique sat right next to Dok Mi and said some weird things like Enrique is not human, he is a fairy because of this and that.  Dok Mi didn't really seemed to have thought so much of it.  Probably because whatever this nutcase told her, she took it as a metaphor of Enrique's personality, which is something good.  However, the next day, When Enrique came to her apartment sulking because she's supposed to open her window to see him through their windows, she wasn't there.  There was a writing on her door in red spray paint.  Enrique and the other neighbors got worried.

I'm thinking, now what? I saw the preview but I couldn't see the relationship of what she was saying in it with what was written on her door.  Was she kidnapped?  It didn't look that way in the preview but you'll never know.  I don't know what a desperate fan could do!  But anyways, it looks like Do Hwi is the one that will get all the blame in the next episode.  We'll see.
